If a contractor gets hurt on your property and does not have Workers Compensation Insurance, you are liable. You may be responsible for all bills resulting from the accident. Could be hundreds, thousands or more. I have worked very hard for everything I own and to have an uninsured contractor take it away would make me very upset. To be sure they have coverage, ask for a certificate of insurance. They can request a copy for you at no charge from their agent.
This type of insurance is very inexpensive to your contractor. If they do not have GL – please be smart and keep looking for another contractor.
